Game 3 Preview. Bucks lead 2-0
Tonight at 8:00pm EST the Pistons will host their first ever playoff game at the LCA in game three against the Bucks.
Matchups to watch:
Blake vs. Playing: There’s been a lot of rumors pointing to him giving it a go. If he’s able to be even remotely effective it would be cool for him to play but I hope that they don’t put him out there if he can’t walk like against Memphis at the end of the season.
Wayne Ellington vs. Not being terrible: Obviously outmatched defending Khris Middleton, and not a guy who is great at beating the Bucks aggressive defense running him off the 3 point line. That said, they really need him to get going.
Reggie Jackson vs. Repeat: It’d be good for him to hit a couple more shots but he did about exactly what the Pistons needed from him last time out. Hit floaters, draw Lopez an extra step out, generally be the guy in the offense.
Andre Drummond vs. Continuing to grind: He’s being asked to do a ton, he’s mostly held up well in the first two games. The Pistons will need him to play at least that well. One thing, if he is going to be the primary defender of Giannis (which he probably will) then he needs to be more selective about crashing the offensive glass.
Luke Kennard vs. Balling: The most fun thing about the first two games is Luke Kennard looking like he is really arriving which is fun and should continue.
Pistons vs. Team defense: I’ve talked about it a ton, but whether Andre is on Giannis or Lopez, the Pistons need a team effort on defense without Andre there to cover up all the holes.
So in conclusion…
Wink knowingly at your friends if:
Blake comes out to the undertaker music and plays great.
Giannis still largely wants nothing to do with Andre inside.
The Pistons manage to not let Middleton/Bledsoe kill them.
Run for the hills if:
Andre gets into foul trouble.
The opening to the 2nd half was a sign that Giannis is going to continue that and just attack whether Andre is waiting for him or not.
The Pistons are down by 30 at hafltime.
